Back-to-School and Employment Issues
The school year is starting back up, but this school year will be very different due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Some schools will be physically open for in-person learning, but providing parents the option of doing full-time, virtual learning instead. Some schools are going to be physically closed and conduct full-time virtual learning. Other schools are going to have a hybrid approach in which students will be doing a combination of in-person and virtual learning. What do these decisions mean for parents and employees of your CU? If they need to be off work to assist with virtual schooling, will they be eligible for the Families First Coronavirus Act (FFCRA) benefits? There are two provisions of the FFCRA: Emergency Family and Medical Expansion Act and Emergency Paid Sick Leave Act.
