Speakers
Clint Pulver: Clint Pulver is an Emmy Award-winning, motivational keynote speaker, author, musician, and workforce expert.
He’s also fun, dynamic, entertaining – and the no-stress speaker clients love to work with.
A Professional Drummer for over 20 years, he’s played with top headlining fellow musicians in venues like the Vivint Arena, the Stadium of Fire, and the Kodak Theater in Hollywood. In 2010 he founded the UVU Drumline known as the Green Man Group, which he directed for six years and went on to direct the Drumline for the NBA’s Utah Jazz until 2015.
Clint was featured in Business Q Magazine as one of their “Top 40 under 40” as a premiere Corporate Keynote Speaker. He has appeared on America’s Got Talent and in feature films with actors such as School of Rock’s Jack Black and Napoleon Dynamite’s John Heder.
Joel Hartzler: As Senior Stewardship & Development Director, Joel plays an integral role in developing and engaging with a diverse portfolio of members and contributors at Filene. His focus is on creating strong relationships and delivering the message that “research and analysis on issues vital to the financial services industry is needed to move forward.”
His presentation “The Credit Union of the 21st Century” begins the process of reimagining the 1934 Federal Credit Union Act and aligns the credit union manifesto with twenty-first-century norms—economic, social, and technological—so that credit unions can envision how they need to transform to meet the needs of members in the future. We imagine a not-too-distant operating and regulatory future for credit unions to start thinking about.
Joel has been involved in the credit union industry for over 25 years. He started out working for a credit union data processing solution assisting and consulting with clients as they converted to a new platform. In leading these conversions, the exposure to the internal workings of a financial institution, their needs, and various department objectives gave him insight on what made a credit union successful and how it could become more valuable to its members. This led to a role of account management and sales where he was able to match what a credit union needed to the different solutions available in order to grow and serve members.
Maurice Ashley: Maurice Ashley lives his passion. Through his love for chess, he not only made history as the first AfricanAmerican International grandmaster in the annals of the game but he has managed to translate his love to others as a national championship coach, world-class commentator, tournament organizer, author, iPhone app designer, puzzle inventor, and motivational speaker.
Maurice has travelled the world as an ardent spokesperson of the character building effects of chess. Coming from the rough and tough streets of Kingston, Jamaica and Brooklyn, New York, Maurice has tirelessly shared his compelling story with young people in the schools of Ferguson, Missouri, the townships of Cape Town, South Africa and the poverty stricken jungles of Belize, Central America. His book, Chess for Success crystallizes his vision of the many benefits of chess, particularly for at-risk youth, and he continuously spreads his message of living one’s dream to universities, businesses, chess clubs and non-profit organizations around the globe.
Todd M. Harper: Todd was nominated to serve on the NCUA Board on February 6, 2019. The U.S. Senate confirmed him on March 14, 2019, and he was sworn in as a member of the NCUA Board on April 8, 2019. President Joseph R. Biden, Jr., designated him as the NCUA’s twelfth Chairman on January 20, 2021.
As NCUA Board Chairman, Mr. Harper serves as a voting member of the Financial Stability Oversight Council and represents the NCUA on the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council and the Financial and Banking Information Infrastructure Committee.
Prior to joining the NCUA Board, Mr. Harper served as director of the agency’s Office of Public and Congressional Affairs and chief policy advisor to former Chairmen Debbie Matz and Rick Metsger. He is the first member of the NCUA’s staff to become an NCUA Board Member and Chairman.
Joe Bertotto: Joe Bertotto is the chief culture officer for Vizo Financial. Prior to joining Vizo Financial, Bertotto founded the Strengths Life Project, a workplace consultancy dedicated to helping individuals realize their best self, to the advancement of servant leadership and to creating great workplaces.
Prior to founding the Strengths Life Project, Bertotto was the chief culture officer of Graystone Bank, one of the fastest growing banks in Pennsylvania history. The meteoric rise of Graystone was attributed in large part to the company culture that Bertotto architected. He has also held leadership and organization development positions at Sovereign Bank as well as PNC Bank. Bertotto has been working in the field of leadership and organization development for 30+ years.
Bertotto has written numerous articles on leadership, strengths and organizational culture that have appeared in a variety of publications. Most recently, he released his first book, “Pick Up the Gum Wrapper: How to Increase Performance While Improving Lives.” The book hit Amazon’s #1 New Release List in its category.
Pablo DeFilippi: Pablo DeFilippi is currently SVP at Inclusiv, a national, nonprofit association and CDFI intermediary that represents supports and invests in credit unions serving predominantly low-income, financially underserved communities.
