Robert Flanyak Named 2026 Executive of the Year

CrossState is proud to announce that Robert Flanyak, President and CEO of CHROME Federal Credit Union, has been selected as the 2026 recipient of the William W. Pratt Lifetime Achievement Award.

Flanyak’s 45-year career began in 1981 at CUNA Mutual Group (now TruStage Financial Group), where he implemented home equity products and 401(k) plans the moment they became legal. This led to his promotion in the 90s, making him one of the youngest corporate officers in the company’s history. His journey continued throughout New Jersey before he joined CHROME Federal Credit Union, and after just two years, he was promoted to his current position. Flanyak defined a legacy by making culture the number one strategic priority, and his emphasis on people has helped him lead the way in the industry for employee engagement.

“In everything he does, Bob makes sure his actions live up to his promises,” said Tracy Barnabi, SVP, Chief People and Culture Officer at CHROME, in the nomination. “We consistently see him willing to roll up his sleeves with his team to volunteer, extend a listening ear to members’ issues and concerns, and answer the calls of local community organizations in need. By living the credit union cooperative principles and the CHROME values, he has demonstrated that no matter the size of your credit union, we can all make a difference.”

The award will be presented during Awards Night at CrossState Connect Annual Convention in Atlantic City, NJ, on May 20. Flanyak will be honored alongside other distinguished recipients in a celebration of leadership, service, and impact.
