We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Credit Union Accounting Manager. This role is pivotal in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records and regulatory compliance. Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Reporting:
    • Oversee the preparation of financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
    • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
    • Provide accurate and timely reports to management and regulatory authorities.
  2. Budgeting and Forecasting:
    • Collaborate with department heads to develop annual budgets and forecasts.
    • Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis.
    • Recommend adjustments to ensure financial targets are met.
  3. Accounting Operations:
    • Supervise day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance.
    • Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and other financial transactions.
    • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and mitigate risk.
  4. Regulatory Compliance:
    • Stay current with accounting standards, regulations, and industry best practices.
    • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements, including NCUA regulations.
    • Coordinate audits and examinations by external auditors and regulatory agencies.
  5. Team Leadership:
    • Provide guidance, training, and performance feedback to accounting staff.
    • Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment to maximize team productivity and morale.
    • Delegate tasks effectively, balancing workload and skill sets within the team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role, preferably in a financial institution.
  • Thorough understanding of GAAP, financial reporting standards, and regulatory requirements for credit unions.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage), MS Excel, and financial analysis tools.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
