Join CrossState and other credit union professionals for our Fall Compliance Town Meeting.  The first part of the session will feature RKL presenting on IT/Remote-CYBER Issues for this year:

The current ‘new normal’ is serving as a real-world stress test for organizations, and it remains an unpredictable force in our society. Leaders and executives are making significant decisions without reliable information amidst a constantly shifting economic and regulatory landscape. Regardless to how you pivoted to respond to the unique burdens placed on financial institutions, all organizations should evaluate their ongoing response and pinpoint what worked, what didn’t and what could be improved. We will look to discuss key technology and risk management considerations when resuming or maintaining operations.

A pandemic is the ultimate force outside a business leader’s control. How you responded (and continue to respond) to these events and your efforts to keep operations running represent your business continuity plan. Was your company ready to engage and support a remote workforce? Did you secure company data and provide sufficient levels of access? Did your team have the necessary resources required to perform their day-to-day responsibilities outside the traditional setting? The answers to these questions can provide valuable lessons to shift from a reactive response to a proactive posture, which includes formalizing a plan for various scenarios, routine testing and evaluation, resource acquisition and training to make sure the team knows what to do and when. We will touch upon the key considerations of business continuity management: its preparation, execution, monitoring, and maintenance; to result in operational flexibility that leads to proactive success instead of reactive struggle.

As you step away from your tenth video call today, did the thought of vendor due diligence over your call provider cross your mind? In the onset of our current working situation, every business faced a scramble to find the right technology solutions in order to keep folks connected internally and externally. In most cases, other companies were contracted to provide these tools. Now that we have found our rhythm with remote working, it is important to underline your company’s requirements when on-boarding new services from third party vendors. In our discussion, we will elaborate on the risks associated with third-party vendor management, highlight the key facets of a comprehensive vendor due diligence program, as well as emphasize the need for heightened scrutiny when allowing third parties into your organization’s environment during a crisis.

For most of us, we’ve had to turn to atypical workplaces as a result of our current environment: dining room tables, kitchen counters, and living room sofas. A significant amount of organizations never considered remote working to the scale we have encountered. Aside from the logistical challenges, this presents new vulnerabilities to organizations in the form of remote connectivity. Here we will dive into the new frontier of cybersecurity considerations such as new cyber threats,  securing mobile devices including patch management and antivirus), the use of personal networks to protect company information, and expectations that are synonymous with telecommuting – all from the comfort of your own home!

After RKL’s presentation and a one-hour lunch break, CrossState’s Advocacy Team will discuss a variety of Compliance Hot Topics.
