Erie Hosts Rep. Kelly for a Discussion on Affordability
On Wednesday, credit union leaders met with Representative Mike Kelly (PA-R) at Erie Federal Credit Union for an update on matters affecting the district. This led to a broader discussion on affordability challenges and the important role credit unions play in promoting financial wellness for members and supporting small businesses.
Kelly is a longtime credit union member and member of the U.S. House Committee on Ways and Means, and he also serves as Chair of the Subcommittee on Tax. These key roles were instrumental in advancing efforts to protect the credit union tax exemption during consideration of H.R. 1 in 2025.
The gathering also reflected the collaborative spirit of the credit union movement, including members of TEACUP (The Erie Area Credit Union Partnership), a longstanding network of credit unions that work together to share resources, support one another, and strengthen their communities.
CrossState extends a special thank you to Erie FCU for hosting the event and appreciates the participation and contributions of leaders from Erie Police FCU, Erie City Employees FCU, AMERICO FCU, IBEW Local 56 FCU, Mercer County Community FCU, and Widget Financial FCU.
